1. About LocalPetFinder

LocalPetFinder (www.localpetfinder.ca) is a free pet discovery and matching platform that aggregates publicly available dog adoption listings from rescue organizations in the Calgary, Alberta area. LocalPetFinder is not a shelter, rescue, or adoption agency. We do not house, foster, or place animals.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using LocalPetFinder, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the website.

3. How the Service Works

LocalPetFinder collects publicly available dog adoption listings from 13+ rescue organizations in Calgary and surrounding areas. We display these listings with smart filters, a matching quiz, and other tools to help prospective adopters find a compatible dog.

  • All dog profiles link to the rescue organization's official adoption page.
  • All adoption applications, approvals, fees, and decisions are handled entirely by the respective rescue organization.
  • Listings are refreshed regularly but may not reflect real-time availability. Always confirm availability with the rescue directly.

4. No Guarantees

LocalPetFinder provides information on an "as is" basis. We make no warranties or guarantees regarding:

  • The accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of dog listings, descriptions, or compatibility information.
  • The availability of any dog shown on the platform.
  • The behaviour, health, or temperament of any listed dog.
  • Match scores or quiz results, which are estimates based on limited information and should not be the sole basis for an adoption decision.

5. Limitation of Liability

LocalPetFinder is not responsible for any outcomes resulting from your use of the platform, including but not limited to adoption decisions, interactions with rescue organizations, or the behaviour of adopted animals. To the fullest extent permitted by law, LocalPetFinder shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

6. Intellectual Property

Dog photos, descriptions, and listing content are sourced from publicly available rescue organization websites and remain the property of their respective owners. The LocalPetFinder name, logo, design, matching algorithm, and original content are the property of LocalPetFinder.

7. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use automated tools to scrape or harvest data from LocalPetFinder.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the platform's functionality.
  • Use the platform for any unlawful purpose.

8. Email Alerts

If you subscribe to email alerts, you consent to receiving notifications about new dogs matching your preferences. You may unsubscribe at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any alert email.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta, Canada. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Alberta.
