LocalPetFinder (www.localpetfinder.ca) is a free dog adoption discovery platform serving Calgary, Alberta. We aggregate publicly available dog listings from local rescue organizations to help prospective adopters find their match.

  • Email address — If you subscribe to new dog alerts, we collect your email address and your filter preferences (e.g., size, energy level, compatibility). This is stored in our database and used solely to send you matching dog notifications.

b) Information Stored Locally

  • Saved favourites — When you save a dog to your favourites, that data is stored in your browser's localStorage. It never leaves your device and is not sent to our servers.

c) Information Collected Automatically

  • Server logs — Like most websites, our hosting provider (Vercel) may collect standard server logs including IP address, browser type, referring URL, and pages visited. These logs are used for security and operational purposes.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Email alerts: To send you notifications about newly available dogs matching your preferences.
  • Service operation: To maintain, protect, and improve the platform.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Data Storage and Security

  • Alert subscription data (email and preferences) is stored in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database with row-level security enabled.
  • We use reasonable measures to protect your data, but no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
  • Favourites data is stored only in your browser and is not transmitted to any server.

  • Clear favourites by clearing your browser's localStorage.

8. Children's Privacy

LocalPetFinder is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
